Tyres at the APK

In Oct 2025 – Sep 2026 the APK inspector recorded a tyres defect 1,637,233 times, across 6,857,004 inspected passenger cars. On 37 model generations it occurs clearly more often than average.

What is it?

Too little tread (at least 1.6 mm), cracks or uneven wear.

Repair indication: smallusually a small repair, often done with the service.

How to check it at the viewing

Check the tread and look for uneven wear: that points to an alignment problem. The DOT code on the tyre tells its age.

Ask the seller: How old are the tyres, and has the car been aligned recently?

Models where this is clearly more common

Sorted by how many extra cars have this defect. Per model the age with the largest difference; only when the lower bound of the 95% confidence interval is above the national share and the difference is at least 3 in 1,000 cars.
